Area Health & Wellness Foundation Provide Capacity-Building Program with La Salle Nonprofit Center to Support Area Nonprofit Organizations
September 30, 2009, Pottstown

-- Nonprofit organizations have been hard hit by the economy, as resources fade and demand increases. The Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation is broadening its support of Pottstown area nonprofit organizations by offering educational programs that will make these organizations stronger and more sustainable, both today and in the future.

For the third consecutive year, the Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation is collaborating with The Nonprofit Center at La Salle University’s School of Business, Philadelphia, to present a series of programs in Pottstown that will strengthen tri-county area nonprofit organizations and their leadership, improve their operational efficiency and build their internal capacity.

“This year’s programs, which run from November through June, will focus even more than prior efforts on building the skills critical to surviving in a down-turned economy, “ said David W. Kraybill, foundation executive director. “Subjects like volunteer recruitment and retention, business planning, fundraising, building strategic alliances, marketing, and board governance, are key to nonprofit operation,” he added.

In addition to eight different workshops on these subjects, the program will also offer a peer learning circle to support nonprofit executive directors, specialized board and executive leadership training, including a webinar series, and an evaluation clinic that supports excellence in reporting to funders.

All programs will be hosted by the Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation in its offices at 152 E. High Street, Pottstown.

The programs are open to all nonprofit organizations in the Pottstown tri-county area, but in addition to sponsoring the entire program to make each component affordable, the foundation also provides additional subsidies to its grantees. The project is also endorsed by the TriCounty Community Network, United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania, and the TriCounty Chamber of Commerce
