Philadelphia Nonprofit Center Launches New Education Classes for Nonprofits:
Expansion into Bucks County, Multi-Part Classes, 90-Minute “Smarties” Mark New Calendar for Professional Development in Nonprofit Skills
(Philadelphia, PA, August 2, 2011)–The Nonprofit Center at La Salle University's School of Business is now accepting registrations for its 30th anniversary series of nonprofit educational programs that strengthen nonprofit organizations in the Greater Philadelphia region by providing their staff, board members, and volunteers with key skills and knowledge.
“Every year, we offer the core skills that every nonprofit needs as well as building upon those classes to broaden the range of more experienced professionals,” said Laura Otten, Ph.D., director of the Nonprofit Center.
“We are bringing nine essential classes in nonprofit management to Bucks County, for the expanding numbers of employees, board members and volunteers who either live or work there and in the surrounding counties,” Otten said. People will be able to take these classes individually or as part of series that earns them a Certificate in Nonprofit Management.
While the Center specializes in full-day classes in fundraising, finance, management, governance, planning and evaluation, and marketing/communications for nonprofit organizations, they are adding a new “Smartie” series of 90-minute programs by area experts that will present meaningful overviews of topics of interest, including legal issues, financial management and managing virtual communications. “Some discrete subjects can be condensed into an economical format that provides a quick, but well-informed look at a topic that spurs people to go back their organizations to think about next steps,” Otten said.
The Nonprofit Center will launch this new academic year, which runs from September through May, with a “Meet the Funders” panel discussion featuring some of the region’s premiere funders of nonprofit services on September 15 at International House, 3701 Chestnut St., Philadelphia.
Now in its 30th year, The Nonprofit Center provides comprehensive educational programs, leadership development and consulting for nonprofit organizations in the Delaware Valley.
Registration is now available online at www.lasallenonprofitcenter.org/
