(Philadelphia, PA, October 10, 2010) – With one in every four jobs in Philadelphia belonging to a nonprofit organization and six out of 10 of the city’s largest employers being nonprofits, there is a growing need for a comprehensive website that meets the needs of both potential employees and employers in the nonprofit sector.  
    The Nonprofit Center at La Salle University’s School of Business, the region’s most comprehensive provider of educational and consulting services to nonprofit organizations, is launching www.findnonprofitjobs.org which will expand its previous collaborative job search site to enable nonprofit organizations to solicit board members and volunteers and allow individuals to present their credentials for employment.
    “One of the ways we help build the capacity of the region’s nonprofits is through strong board leadership,” said Laura Otten, Ph.D., director of The Nonprofit Center.  “With openings for board membership detailed online, interested individuals will more easily connect with organizations whose mission aligns with their values and interests,” she said.
    “In addition, economic realities have made volunteers even more essential to nonprofit viability and so to advertise for appropriate volunteer positions will be a big help for organizations,” Otten added.
    The third new component will be a “hire me” section, where individuals interested in career opportunities in the nonprofit sector, will be able to advertise their skills and interests.  
    “The primary goal of findnonprofitjobs.org will continue to be providing a place where nonprofit organizations can post their current job openings,” Otten said.  “In the 30 years that we’ve been in existence, we’ve always provided a venue for that kind of matching and we’ll continue to be the region’s key online resource for nonprofit jobs.  These additional components will cement our position as the central hub for nonprofit personnel,” she added.
