So
You Want to Work for a Nonprofit?
The number of inquiries we’ve been getting from people who want advice on how to find a job in the nonprofit sector, or are starting a nonprofit, has been increasing geometrically. As our academic year draws to a close, we are reaching out to people who are considering a career in nonprofits to present a 1/2 day workshop that answers the question: So You Want to Work in a Nonprofit?
This program, presented by Peter Doris, a human resources expert with more than 30 years experience in all aspects of the field, including career transition, from both the nonprofit and for-profit sides, will help clarify what’s involved in nonprofit work and whether you fit in.
Key learning objectives include:
- Understanding the structure and dynamics of the nonprofit sector at all levels
- Understanding how your knowledge, skills and attitudes might transfer to a nonprofit career
- Understanding nonprofit governance and how it affects those who work in the sector
- Understanding the fundamental role fundraising plays in all the nonprofit experience
