The Nonprofit MBA Case Competition
Welcome to the first case competition sponsored by The Nonprofit Center at La Salle University's School of Business, in conjunction with the University's School of Business. Six Philadelphia area institutions with graduate programs have been invited to participation in the Nonprofit MBA Case Competition on January 31, 2009. The case will be drawn from a real-life scenario at one of the Delaware Valley's nonprofit institutions, and will require a solution that integrates accounting, finance, and marketing analyses.
Prize Money
The first place team will share $5,000; second place $4,000; third place $3,000; and the remaining three teams $1,000 each.
Team Member Requirements
Teams must consist of three (minimum) or four (maximum) graduate school business students who may be full-time, part-time or executive MBA, MS Finance, or MS Accounting students. There are no restrictions as to the backgrounds of team members or expected completion dates. However, it is expected that the strongest teams will have a mix of graduate students with marketing and accounting/finance concentrations.
The On-Campus Competition
Teams will be presented with one more case requirement on the morning of the competition and will have two hours to update their solution. In the afternoon, teams will have up to 20 minutes to present their solution to the judging panel, followed by a 10 minute Q&A with the judges. At a minimum, each team should prepare a packet for each judge that includes a one to two page executive summary, a one page financial summary and a one page marketing summary (for the original case -- this will not include the one new requirement). While a team is presenting, the others will be building guitars to donate to a nonprofit organization.
