This course will take you from the basics of what to look for in designing (or redesigning) your website to using your site for effective communications and marketing, giving you ideas you can implement immediately and include in your longer term strategy.
You will leave with an understanding of: what is necessary for a “working” website for various stakeholders and users of the site; of how to promote your website, both on and offline; ways to market your cause on the Internet; what tools can help make the Internet work best for you. The class will explore tools that can help you become more visible online, including: blogging, Search Engine Optimization, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, YouTube, and optimized press releases. The purpose is not to teach the nuts and bolts of how to set up these sites, but rather the fine art of utilizing them effectively.
